Drive-Thru Chapman Care Kit Pick-Up Event FAQs

This post was updated on

What is in the Chapman Care Kit?

A Chapman fanny pack holding two Chapman branded face coverings, a thermometer, hand sanitizer, and a touchless door opener. These are the same kits that have been available for pick-up in Facilities and will remain there if you are unable to attend the event.

What is the process for signing up and accessing campus?

Please refer to the Chapman Care Kit Pick-Up Process for Faculty and Staff.

Do I need to request additional approval to access campus?

No. While all other campus visits require obtaining additional permission, you do not need to request additional approval beyond registering for the event, and obtaining your supervisor’s approval if attending during your working hours.

I can’t attend on the selected day/time; can I choose another day/time?

If you are unable to come at the specific time you selected, please contact the Office of Volunteer Engagement at 714-997-6559 so they can further assist you.

Can I pick up a care package for someone else?

Unfortunately, due to safety concerns we are asking people to pick up their own Chapman Care Kit only.

What if I can’t come to pick it up? When will I get my kit?

If you are unable to attend the event or choose not to, you will be able to pick up your kit when you officially return to campus to work.

What do I have to show to verify my identity?

To ensure the safety of others, we will ask all participants to carry their valid Chapman ID or have a photo ID.

Do I need to take the online training and physical COVID-19 test to participate?

Yes, at this time we are asking all faculty and staff to complete the online training and the at-home COVID-19 test to ensure the safety of the entire Chapman Family.

  • Online Training: You can access the COVID-19 Safety Training at
  • COVID-19 PCR at-home test through Pixel by LabCorp: To request your Pixel by LabCorp at-home test kit, go to You must use your Chapman email address when registering. NOTE: Due to the one-week lead time, we recommend requesting the test as soon as possible.
  • Daily Symptom Monitoring Survey: You will not receive the daily symptom screen email until you’ve completed the online training and COVID-19 test. The daily screen is emailed to you and needs to be completed on days you will be on campus – you will receive this email on the morning of your visit. You must receive a “CLEAR” email message from the daily symptom survey before coming to campus. You will need to show the “CLEAR” message during pick-up so have available on your phone or bring a printout.

Can I carpool with my fellow colleagues during the drive-thru event?

We are expecting all faculty and staff members to observe recommended guidelines concerning social distancing, face coverings and other protocols as explained on our CU Safely Back website. Although this is meant to be an enjoyable experience for all involved, and it will be wonderful to see each other again, please do not carpool or congregate outside of your car on campus.

Can I park and access my office when I am visiting campus? Do I need a parking permit to park my car on campus?

Unfortunately, no. Due to the volume of staff and faculty who are expected to drive through the event on the scheduled dates, we are requesting that no other on-campus activity be conducted if at all possible. Only approved essential staff including faculty teaching on campus may access their approved campus facilities.

Since I am getting the clearance to come onto campus, do I have the freedom to work under the tents on campus, if my supervisor approves?

Unfortunately, no. This event is designed to allow all Chapman faculty and staff to receive your Care Kit from the university.

In order to limit the spread of COVID-19, we are requesting that everyone stay in their cars, drive-through, and then leave campus.

Do we need to get permission from our supervisor to go through the process to get access to campus?

For this event, no additional permission is required. Please complete the training on Canvas and order your test as soon as possible. Although, you need your supervisor’s approval if attending during your normal working hours.

Will I be able to get out of the car during the drive-thru event?

During the drive-thru event, we are asking everyone to stay in their cars to ensure the safety of the Chapman Family.

Do I need to wear a face-covering if I am staying in my car?

Yes, we are requiring that everyone wear a face covering to ensure the safety of the Chapman Family.

Will photos be taken during the event?

Yes. During this event photos will be taken, but no personal information will be shared in the photos (e.g., license plates).

Will I be reimbursed for the cost of travel to campus to pick up my kit?

No. This event is entirely voluntary. If this cost is a concern it is recommended you do not attend and receive your care kit when you return to work.

Whom do I contact for more information or if I want to request an accommodation?
