Facilities Management outlines several initiatives for fall

This post was updated on

Chapman University administration understands the many concerns individuals have regarding the planned return to campus in the fall. Chapman and its leadership are deeply committed to everyone’s health and safety if we are permitted to reopen by government authorities. Here is an outline of several initiatives underway to support a safe return to Chapman students, faculty and staff:

  • PPE products available to all faculty, students, and staff
  • Freestanding hand sanitizing dispensers in common areas and all classrooms
  • Freestanding wipe dispensers in common areas and all classrooms
  • Increased custodial cleaning throughout the day focused on high-used touchpoints
  • Reduced classroom occupancy to ensure social distancing guidelines
  • Signage throughout the campus facilities focused on best practices, required use of face coverings and physical distancing
  • Following CDC and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recommendations with the campus buildings air quality, which includes the use of MERV 13 filters and UV lighting retrofits where applicable
  • Outdoor spaces are being created to discourage indoor gathering
  • Online Best Practices Safety training for faculty, staff and students is being created by our Environmental Health and Safety team

These are just a few of the various “CU Safely Back” return plans underway this summer to help keep CU healthy.
