Planning Underway for Vaccine Distribution

Update From President Struppa, January 15, 2021

Vaccine distribution continues in Orange County this week. In addition to critical and healthcare workers, people over the age of 65 are now also eligible to receive it. More information and updates about vaccine eligibility can be found on the Orange County Heath Care Agency (OCHCA) website. Due to the high demand, appointments fill up very quickly.

Chapman continues to work with OCHCA in hopes of eventually having a supply of vaccines to distribute as well. We are currently in the planning stages of how we would prioritize distribution within our own Chapman community knowing we would likely have a limited supply. At this time, we do not plan to require a vaccination to access the campus, however, we do want to be able to provide this service to campus if we are able to.

While some areas of California are seeing a decrease in COVID-19 cases, Southern California is still at a critical point with an almost 20% positivity rate. I continue to ask that you remain diligent in the CU Safely Back protocols to limit the spread. The local hospitals are still in crisis as many continue to get dangerously ill.

Ongoing testing for coronavirus is available via our Student Health Services. Hours and location information are posted. Weekly testing is required to maintain approval to access campus facilities.
