Spring Semester to Begin With Remote Instruction

Update From President Struppa, January 15, 2021

Despite Gov. Gavin Newsom’s rescinding of the statewide stay-at-home order on Jan. 25, Orange County remains in the “purple tier” category. We will therefore begin the spring semester with remote instruction. This does not impact the current in-person instruction currently in progress at the Rinker campus, or limited in-person courses that are scheduled at the Orange campus.

This is disappointing news but we remain committed to opening for in-person instruction as soon as the state and local health agencies allow for it.

Additionally, this impacts those moving into Chapman Housing. OCHCA has been a valuable partner to us in our efforts to keep our Chapman campus and students healthy, and we believe it is prudent to respect their recommendation to delay move-in. Therefore, we will be postponing our spring semester move-in until the week of February 15. If this creates a burden for those with travel plans already finalized, I encourage you to contact the Office of Residence Life and First Year Experience.

I will keep you informed as receive more information.
