Updates on Vaccine Distribution

Update From President Struppa, February 12, 2021

The state of the vaccine rollout across the country and in California is critically important as we work to stop the spread of this deadly virus and return to some semblance of normalcy. Unfortunately, the demand for the vaccine currently outweighs the supply as many of us wait for our ability to schedule an appointment.

Chapman is making every effort to acquire our own supply of vaccines that we can administer to our faculty, staff and students. However, we believe that if we are able to secure a supply it will likely be very limited and we will also be bound to the distribution system set by the state and Orange County. We strongly encourage those eligible for vaccination to visit a local distribution location and to not wait for Chapman’s supply, which is not guaranteed. We are posting vaccination information on this site and will keep you informed as this situation develops.

Recently, it was announced that all higher education professionals are in the next tier for vaccination (1B), but Orange County will delay that while they catch up on the backlog of those in the 1A tier. This could be an additional 2-3 week delay. In the meantime, we are working to understand what identification will be necessary for you to demonstrate you are eligible for the vaccine as a member of the Chapman community. We want to make the process as simple as possible for you to visit a local vaccination site.
