Chapman University Guidelines for Gatherings (April 2, 2021)

This post was updated on

With Orange County’s return to the ORANGE Tier in Gov. Newsom’s blueprint for opening California, it is exciting to see more of the Chapman community return to our campuses for in-person instruction and work. However, while it may be tempting to celebrate reunions with classmates and colleagues, please remember that restrictions are still in place for gatherings.

Chapman University is asking staff, faculty and students to abide by the guidelines for all on-campus gatherings and any university-sponsored functions that take place off campus. In an effort to mitigate the likelihood of further outbreaks we are ramping up more slowly; our primary objective is to keep the numbers low to allow for continued on-campus instruction.

The current university guidelines for gatherings are as follows:

  • Limit gatherings to 12 or fewer people from different households.
  • Hold gatherings outdoors whenever possible.
  • The primary focus for activities is student instruction and student activities (clubs, exercise classes, etc).
  • Social distancing and mask coverings are still required, according to the CUSB health behaviors guidelines. This is true regardless of vaccination status.

This policy will be revised policy as the situation continues to improve.
